Thursday Beer Sessions: "German Styles Vol 2" - Focus on Ales

Having already focused on Lagers earlier in the year, we turn our German focus to the other half of the beer spectrum; Ales.

What’s the difference between an ale and a lager, and what does this have to do with German?
Do I have to learn to spell Reinheitsgebot?

Everything…and nah. Unless you want to learn how to spell it. It doesn’t get you anything, other than maybe a high-five.

Anyway, let’s taste though four historic, warm-fermented styles from Germania. Whoops, I just answered the question from earlier.

Prost!

Thursday Beer Sessions: "Franco-Belgian Beers for Beginners"

Belgium is not a country that we come across often, unless we’re talking waffles. But when it comes to the world of beer, there are few countries as important than this French speaking country of 11 million.

Belgium’s beer history is as long, varied, as the history of the region. Dating back to the Romans in the 3rd and 4th Century, the brewing history and cultural importance has permeated every aspect of brewing, to this day.

Whether you’re a Cicerone, or don’t know a Bier de Garde from a hole in the ground, this refresher into the historic styles of Belgium is perfect, and delicious, for everyone.

Thursday Beer Sessions: “Beer is for Lovers aka Beers to Share for V-Day”

High Gravity Beers Vol 1

What does “Gravity” mean?
No, I’m not talking about the excellent motion picture starring Sandra Bullock (but you should watch it, if you haven’t). Gravity, in this case, refers to a measurement of the beers density. More specifically, measuring gravity before the beer ferments, and then once primary fermentation is done, provides you the ABV of the beer…how much alcohol there is in the beer.

So in this case, “High Gravity” means, high alcohol beers. Beers with ABVs north of 10%. Beers to share.

And isn’t that what Valentines Day is all about, sharing with your loved one?

Scheduled to appear*: Hoof Hearted $120 Nachos, Rochefort 10, Surly Darkness 2024, and Sierra Nevada Bigfoot

*Lineup is subject to change

Thursday Beer Sessions: "Many Faces of IPA"

What can we say about the IPA that hasn’t already been said before?

Everything!
Even though it’s the most popular craft beer style in America, we feel the industry itself hasn’t done enough to educate the market as to the why’s and how’s behind the style.

What do you like? Why do you like it?
East Coast? West Coast? New England? Old England? Hazy? Brut?
What’s it all mean?

Stop by and explore the oft misunderstood varieties in IPAs.

Scheduled to appear*: Old Nation B-43, Wax Wings Pulled Into Nazareth, Stone Brewing IPA, Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA

*Lineup and events subject to change.
